About Us

Grandmaster J. Willis is an 8th degree black belt with over 50 years of experience in martial arts and a military veteran. While in the Army he taught self defense to the Special Forces at Fort Bragg, NC. He also lived in Korea for two years where he trained with the Korean Special Forces and received his first and second degree black belts in the art of Taekwondo . He then earned his third degree at Ft. Bragg NC, and fourth and fifth degree in Tallahassee, FL under Master Manny Cabrera. Finally he earned his 7th and 8th degree black belts under Professor Gallop.

Grandmaster Willis owned and operated karate schools in Monticello, FL and Jacksonville, FL for over 6 years, participated and trained students for martial arts competition, he therefore knows the importance of good quality martial arts training.

Grandmaster Willis worked as a conflict resolution instructor with over 250 students per year that were considered to be at risk kids. He is the founder and president of K.K.S.S. (Keeping Kids Safe and Straight) intervention and prevention program. In 1999 he coached a Taekwondo tournament team and won “coach of the year” through the American Sports Karate Association.

Grandmaster Willis currently runs the after school Taekwondo program at Mandarin Oaks Elementary along with his wife and son, and he teaches family martial arts classes at their local dojang.

His wife Mrs. Willis is a 3rd degree black belt with over 15 years of experience in the art of Taekwondo and over 20 years of yoga and teaching experience and is an early childhood specialist in the Jacksonville area. She also teaches a children’s crystal yoga program at Mandarin Oaks Elementary, as well as a teacher’s yoga class.

Gabriel Willis is their 15 year old son who has been training in Taekwondo since he was three years old and now is a 4th degree black belt. Gabriel also teaches Taekwondo classes and enjoys competing in martial arts tournaments.
